Our Almighty Father in His infinite wisdom called for the soul of our beloved Mrs. Zula Christine Felder Coles, 78 of Morganton, on the afternoon of Sunday May 7, 2023, at Magnolia Lane Nursing and Rehabilitation. Born November 8, 1944, in Caldwell County, she was the daughter of the late Leroy Felder and the late Viola Estes Felder. She was a member of Smith Memorial United Methodist Church (now New Covenant United Methodist Church). Zula was a caring and compassionate woman, who would light up a room with her bright smile. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Ernest James Coles; sister Dorothy Horton; and brother William Robert Thomas.

Left to mourn her loss but treasure her memories is her two sons Alan Felder (Laurie) and Malcolm Felder (Maggie) both of Morganton; one brother Butch Felder of Lenoir; grandchildren Drake, Dehaven, Shineka, and Chelsie Felder, Tyeesha and Kiandra Boston, Ciara Derr, Chelsea and Caleb Pearson; 19 great-grandchildren (with one on the way), and a host of other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held Monday May 15, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. at New Covenant United Methodist Church in Lenoir; interment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
