Our heavenly Father in his infinite wisdom called home the soul of his servant Mr. William Weatherspoon Surratt, 86 of Louisburg, NC, who began his Heaven bound journey on Tuesday January 2, 2024, at his residence.  Born May 20, 1937 in Burke County, he was the son of the late Robert Poole and the late Annie Connelly.  He was educated in the Burke County School system and later relocated to Louisburg, NC where he worked in waste management.  William was united in holy matrimony to Dorothy Bowden Surratt and enjoyed many wonderful years together.  He will always be remembered for being a loving husband and an all-around joyful individual.  He loved joking and in his spare time you could find him watching various ball games.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters: Nancy Surratt and Mary E. Surratt.

Left to mourn his loss but cherish his precious memories is his loving with Dorothy Surratt of the home; children Jeffrey March of Morganton, Chris Lipscomb of Hickory, Alvin Connelly of Marion, Kim Connelly of Marion, and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A funeral service will be held Saturday January 13, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. in the Corpening Memorial Chapel of McCain Funeral Home & Cremations with Rev. Phyllis Caldwell presiding and Bro. Cody T. McCain Sr. serving as the eulogist.  The family will receive friends thirty minutes prior to the service.
