Wilhelmenia Grimes
Ramseur
April 25, 1936 – January 24, 2023
Mrs. Wilhelmenia Grimes Ramseur, 86 and a lifelong resident of Morganton, traded this earthly life for immortality on the morning of Tuesday January 24, 2023 at Amorem Hospice in Valdese. Born on April 25, 1936 in Burke County, she was the daughter of the late George Washington and Lucille Horton Grimes. She received her education in the Burke County School District and following graduation worked as a custodian for many years. Wilhelmenia was also a faithful member of Gaston Chapel A.M.E. Church where she served as an usher and sang with the Saunders Choir and Mixed Choir. She was wed in holy matrimony to the late Robert Ramseur and to this union one child was born. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters: Elizabeth Harbison and Doretha Carson.
Left to cherish her precious memories is her daughter Shirley Fluid of Morganton; two grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren; nieces Marshel Carson, Barbara Wooten, Christina Corpening, Jackie Carson Berry, Geneva Corpening, Carolyn Harbison, Twinkle Clark; nephew Steven Carson, and a host of other relatives and friends.
A homegoing celebration will be held Friday February 3, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. in the Corpening Memorial Chapel of McCain Funeral Home & Cremations with Rev. Shelton T. Miles Sr. serving as officiant and eulogist; entombment will follow at Burke Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
