Wayne Marvin
Conley
June 6, 1959 – May 26, 2025
Wayne Marvin Conley, affectionately known as "Jet," was called to his eternal home on Tuesday May 27TH, at 4:20 a.m. at Atrium Hospital in Charlotte, NC, after a brief illness. Wayne was born on June 6th, 1959, in Morganton, NC, to the late Joseph and Louvenia Conly.
Wayne was a man with a heart of gold. If there was anything he could do for you, he would step to the plate and do whatever he could. Wayne graduated from Freedom High School in 1977, where he was also a member of the high school chorus. Afterward, he enlisted into the US armed forces through the branch of the Army where he served our country for 4 years. He moved to Boston, Massachusetts after meeting his wife, Peggy Moore. During his time in Boston, Wayne was a member of Charles Street A.M.E. Church of Boston, and he was a member of the church choir. He was also a dedicated member, helping others get to and from Sunday morning services. Wayne was a member of Clarence Thompson and the New Spirit Gospel group, where he traveled the east coast showcasing his bass/baritone voice. After moving back to Morganton, he became a sound tech at the Gospel Enforcers.
In addition to his parents Joseph and Louvenia, Wayne was preceded in death by his sister Dorothy Owens and bother Stephen Lynn Conley.
Left to cherish his memories are his daughter, Lataysha Hudson of Charlotte, NC, and his grandson, Jayce Ward of Charlotte, NC. Also, his brothers Ronald (Diane) Conley and Chris Conley, brother-law Clayton Owens, aunts Betty Lou Fleming, and Alsonia Rutherford, both of Columbus, Ohio, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and his many dear friends whose lives he touched deeply.
