Tonya Gwinnett Carson was born to parents Glenda Carson Conley and EJ Whiteside . As a young child, she grew up in Marion NC.  She accepted Christ at an early age and attended Mount Moriah Baptist Church. She received her formal education in the Marion Public School
System. After graduating from high school, she was accepted at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she obtained her Bachelor, and Masters Degrees. She was employed in the Health Department profession, and worked for other employers after graduating
from college.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Glenda Carson Conley, and two aunts Linda, and Brenda who were triplet sisters to Glenda, her aunt
Mary Christine Fleming. and her paternal grandparents, Alvin Edward and Laura Glenn Carson.

She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, TaJtiana Carson, her stepfather-Benjamin Conley, three brothers: Melvin Carson (Tasha), Marloane Carson, Brock Conley, her aunt Lovie (Ken), and uncle Warren Carson, three nieces; two nephews; and a host of cousins, ( 1st, 2nd, and 3rd) generation, and many other relatives.

A funeral service will be held Saturday November 16, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. in the Corpening Memorial Chapel of McCain Funeral Home & Cremations, LLC; the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
