Tereka Nicole "Nikki" Stamps, beloved mother, sister, and cherished friend, passed away on August 11, 2026, at Mission Hospital of Asheville. Born on December 4, 1979, in Burke County, Tereka illuminated the lives of those around her with her compassion, resilience, and unwavering spirit.

From a young age, Tereka was known for her warmth and dedication to her family and community. A graduate of Freedom High School, she pursued higher education with determination, earning an Associate Degree in Medical Office Administration—a testament to her commitment to seeking justice and betterment in the world around her. Tereka applied these values and her strong work ethic to her career in Medical Office Administration, where she became a valued colleague and a source of support for patients and coworkers alike.

Family was at the heart of everything Tereka did. She is survived by her loving daughter, Klanique "Nini" Corpening, and her devoted son, Kaeden Amarion Miller. The pride she took in her role as their mother was evident to all who knew her. Tereka also leaves behind a cherished grandchild; her brothers, Todd Hardy and Tim Hardy; and her sister, Taleshia Stamps, aunts Louise Tate and Delois Lipford, and uncles Donald Stamps, Rufus Moore, and Tommy James Hardy; nephews Darius Jefferson (Jamie) and Tim J. Hardy, niece Tadeshiana Stamps and Danaysha Booker, two great-nieces, and four great-nephews. Their bonds, strengthened through years of shared experiences and mutual support, brought Tereka immeasurable joy.

Tereka’s life was also shaped by the memories and influences of those who went before her. She was preceded in death by her dear mother, Lebbie Warren Hardy, father, Gordon Bohanna "Bohand" Stamps, maternal grandparents Thomas James Hardy and Bessie Moore Hardy, paternal grandparents William Plummer Stamps and Florence Elizabeth Stamps, uncles Garmon Moore, Jimmy Stamps, William Stamps, and aunt Janice Scott, whose guidance and love left an indelible mark on her character. She also shared a deep connection with her great-nephews Knolej and Kingston, both of whom departed this life before her.

Throughout her journey, Tereka was regarded as a source of strength, inspiration, and kindness. Her joyful spirit, generosity, and unwavering support touched the hearts of everyone she met. Whether within the workplace, among friends, or within her family, Tereka will be fondly remembered for her enduring optimism and the steadfast love she extended to all.

Tereka Nicole “Nikki” Stamps leaves behind a legacy defined by resilience, compassion, and a profound love for her family and community. As those who knew her reflect on her life, they are reminded of the countless ways she enriched the world around her.

A homegoing celebration honoring and celebrating the life of Tereka Nicole Stamps will take place Saturday August 22, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. in the Corpening Memorial Chapel of McCain Funeral Home & Cremations, with Pastor Latrese Lyerly presiding and Pastor Wesley Hendrix serving as eulogist; interment will follow in the McElrath Chapel A.M.E. Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
