Roger Sherman Banner, 73, of Lenoir, NC, peacefully passed away on Friday, November 28, 2025, at UNC Health Caldwell. Born July 10, 1952, in Caldwell County to Henry Allen Banner and Mary Virginia Ferguson, Roger lived a life marked by faith, music, and deep devotion to family and friends.

Roger was a proud member of Mt. Zion Holiness Church of God, where his faith provided a foundation for his life and relationships. His love for music was evident as a talented member of the Jump Street Drive Band, bringing joy and energy to every performance and touching the hearts of many in his community.

A passionate sports fan, Roger rooted for the Green Bay Packers and the Boston Celtics, never missing an opportunity to cheer on his favorite teams and share in the excitement with those around him.

Above all, Roger cherished his family. He leaves to celebrate his memory his siblings: Normel Banner of Lenoir, Linda Lockhart of Lenoir, and Janice White of Randallstown, MD, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family who were blessed by his warmth and kindness.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Allen Banner and Mary Virginia Ferguson, and his siblings William Lewis Banner, Allene Banner Pearson, and Donald Banner.

Roger's legacy of faith, musical talent, and unwavering devotion to family and friends will continue to inspire all who knew him. His joyful spirit and the music he shared will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

A Receiving of Friends will be held from 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at St. Paul A.M.E. Church, followed by a Memorial Service at 12:00 PM.
