Robert Allen
Trtala
August 5, 1963 – April 22, 2026
Robert Allen Trtala, a cherished soul whose warmth and wisdom left an indelible mark on all who knew him, was born on August 5, 1963, in Chicago, Illinois. He passed away peacefully on April 22, 2026, at Amorem of Valdese, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, dedication, and a life well-lived.
Robert’s journey took him from the vibrant streets of Chicago to the close-knit community of Baraboo, Wisconsin, where he devoted several years as a Kmart manager. His unwavering commitment to his work and his people then led him to Valdese, North Carolina, where he served as a Dollar General manager with remarkable dedication for over 33 years. In each chapter of his career, Robert was known not only as a leader but as someone who was always ready to help and generously share his unmatched knowledge.
Beyond his professional life, Robert’s heart beat strongest for his hobbies and interests. A passionate car enthusiast, he was well-known for his skill in fixing cars and his collection of them. However, it was in the slot car community where Robert truly found a special place. As a pillar of several slot car groups, his passion and expertise inspired many. These moments were doubly precious because he shared them with his beloved son, Andrew. Together, they created countless fond memories racing their slot cars, bonding over a shared love that brought joy and laughter through the years.
Robert’s family was his pride and his treasure. He is survived by his devoted son, Andrew Trtala, who along with his wife Jessica stood as a living testament to Robert’s strength and spirit. His grandchildren Lilly and Kevin Trtala also carry forward his legacy, embodying the love and warmth that Robert so freely gave.
In remembering Robert Allen Trtala, we honor a man whose life was rich with dedication to others, whose generosity knew no bounds, and whose simple joys brought light to those around him. Though he may no longer walk with us, his memory races on in the hearts of his family, friends, and the countless lives he touched along the way.
