Ms. Rebecca McCoy McGimpsey was born February 22, 1956, in Forest City, NC to Wilma McCoy Lowrance and the late Maxie Lee Lowrance.  She departed this earthly life on Thursday January 16, 2025 at Amorem Hospice in Valdese.  She worked as a custodian in the Burke County School System and retired after many years of dedicated service.  Rebecca attended St. John Holiness church.  She always exhibited a spirit of joy and laughter and shared a close bond with her siblings.  In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her former spouse Gilbert McGimpsey, a son Frederick McCoy, and a brother Jeffrey McCoy

Left to mourn her loss but cherish her precious memories is her mother Wilma Lowrance of the home; her sisters Shonda Kincaid and Elizabeth Corpening, both of Morganton; brothers Ronald Lee McCoy of Raleigh, NC, Moe Lee Lowrance of Morganton, and Darnell McIntire of Forest City, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A funeral service will take place Saturday January 25, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. in the Corpening Memorial Chapel of McCain Funeral Home & Cremations, LLC; the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.  The interment will take place at a later date at Forest Hill Cemetery.
