Randy
Dula
June 14, 1956 – April 17, 2026
Randy Dula, a devoted servant to his country, community, and faith, passed away peacefully at his residence on April 17, 2026. Born on June 14, 1956, in Caldwell County, Randy’s life was marked by dedication, courage, and love that touched all who knew him.
Randy’s journey began in Caldwell County, where he graduated from Hudson High School in 1974. With a heart set on service and growth, he attended Livingston College in Salisbury, laying the foundation for a life driven by commitment and purpose. In September 1976, Randy answered a higher call by joining the Navy, where he served honorably for four years before continuing his service in the Navy Reserves. His military service, a testament to his patriotism and discipline, shaped much of the man he became.
Following his time in the Navy, Randy embraced a career in correctional services, dedicating over thirty years to serving as a North Carolina Correctional Officer. His work spanned multiple facilities, including the Hudson Correctional Center, where his presence was a steadying force. Randy also served as bailiff in Newton-Conover and contributed his expertise as a correctional instructor, shaping the lives and practices within his profession with unwavering integrity.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Randy was a man of profound faith. An evangelist at heart, he was a beloved member of several churches throughout his life, offering guidance and hope to many. His spiritual devotion was a beacon of light that illuminated his path and left a lasting impression on his community.
Randy is survived by his cherished children—Brandon Dula, Pierre Dula, Brittany Dula, and Seth Dula, —who carry forward his legacy of strength and kindness. He also leaves behind siblings, Roger Kincaid (Brenda), Kenneth Dula (Vivian), Ilia McMillian, Rocky Dula (Celetha), Cecelia Surratt, and Rosemary Webb, who shared in his journey and stood by him through life’s trials and triumphs. Randy also leaves behind a host of grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Kenneth Brown Dula and Mary Rose Patterson Dula; child, Randi Dula; and brothers, Henry Dula and Robert “Bobby” Dula; whose memory remains forever in the hearts of those who loved her.
Family, friends, and all who knew Randy are invited to honor his memory at a visitation on April 25, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., followed by a Celebration of Life from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., both held at Dulatown Presbyterian Church, located at 1537 Miller Hill Road, Lenoir, NC 28645.
Randy Dula’s life was a testament to faith, service, and family. His enduring spirit will continue to inspire all who had the privilege to know him, leaving behind a legacy of love, dedication, and hope. As we say goodbye, we hold close the memories of a truly remarkable man whose heart was as vast as the life he lived.
