Phyllis Vernell (Kincaid) Perkins passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by loved ones, on July 30, 2026. Born on November 13, 1937, in Caldwell County, Phyllis led a life defined by compassion, dedication, and unwavering faith.

Phyllis pursued education with determination and earned both her associate's and bachelor's degrees, achievements of which she was deeply proud. These academic accomplishments served as the foundation for a meaningful career in healthcare technology, where her gentle spirit and commitment to care brought comfort and healing to countless individuals.

Faith and service were cornerstones of Phyllis’s life. She was a devoted member of Hartland Church of God, where she not only worshipped but also contributed as an active member of the Eastern Stars and the Usher Board. Her leadership as a chair member demonstrated her deep commitment to her community and to her faith family, making a lasting impact on all who knew her.

Phyllis is survived by her sons, Columbus Avery Dean Kincaid, James Eric Perkins (Delphine), Wally Perkins (Lutchia), Darrel Perkins (Erisha), and Andre Stephens. She also leaves behind 17 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Her caring devotion also touched the lives of her brother, Edwin Pearson. The love and support of caregivers Keyonia Corpening and Synseria Lee Hice were also deeply cherished.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Otis Perkins, and her daughter, Karen Perkins; her Birth parents, Eddison Kincaid and Gertha Pearson, as well as her adoptive parents, Jacob and Ethel Pearson. Their lives and legacies intertwine with Phyllis’s, marking a tapestry of love, resilience, and strong family bonds.

Throughout each chapter of her journey, whether as a dedicated professional, a faithful church member, a loving mother, or a guiding friend, Phyllis exemplified grace and perseverance. Her presence, wisdom, and kindness will be remembered dearly by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

The family takes solace in knowing that Phyllis passed peacefully, surrounded by those she loved most, and that her legacy of service, faith, and compassion will continue to inspire generations to come.
