Pauline Johnson
Shuford
October 13, 1939 – May 26, 2023
Pauline Johnson-Shuford, beloved mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and friend, passed away on May 26, 2023, at the age of 83.
She was born in Morganton, North Carolina to Mack Lloyd & Lucy VIRGINIA Johnson, an honest working man and his loving wife. She was married to the late John Stinson and later married the late Joseph Shuford. She is predeceased by her daughter Loraine Johnson, siblings Rosetta Wilson, Alexander Johnson and James Johnson, nieces & nephews Virginia "DeeDee" Davis, Randy Wilson, Herbert "Spunky" Wilson Jr. and Danny Johnson. Her grandchildren survive her, Brandon Johnson and Steph Johnson. She leaves behind her brother Odell Johnson, her sister in love Hellen Johnson, stepdaughter Diretha Stinson, stepson Alvin "Dino" Stinson and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members that will miss her dearly.
Outside of her time working three jobs in her younger years, she spent a lot of her leisure traveling with friends and family. If it wasn't her energy, it was her cooking! She enjoyed cooking for her family, whether it was overnight guests or her household - the kitchen is one of the places she reigned supreme. Along with a good meal, those that had troubles on their mind could always count on Pauline for an open ear and solid advice.
Pauline spent her later years being a "glam-ma." She retired from Century Furniture and relocated to Prince Georges County, Maryland to live with her daughter Loraine and take care of her baby, Brandon, then later adding baby Steph. The two of them became their primary caregivers when both Pauline and Loraine's health began to decline. She spent many school field trips being a chaperone and gave a lot of bandaids for any bruised knees. She fully enjoyed her retirement and those she met in her days. She made the time to always show up for everyone who reached out, always providing caring, trustworthy, and sound counsel. She simply wanted to live life to the fullest, and she did.
