Mrs. Nancy Hildred Corpening Moore entered this world October 2, 1938 in Morganton, NC and she peacefully exchanged her mortal life for eternal life on the evening of Tuesday December 24, 2024 at her home in Burke County.  Nancy was born to the late Winford and Catherine Corpening of Burke  She is preceded in death by sisters, Christine Houpe and Mamie Caldwell. Nancy enjoyed gardening and growing beautiful flowers and plants. Her joy was found in cooking, fishing and her many grandkids. She had a love for traveling, fishing, music, and dancing.

Nancy was baptized at an early age at Shiloh AME where she attended church regularly. She grew up in a big loving family with 7 siblings. She and her siblings loved animals and she was an avid bird watcher. She enjoyed birds so much so, she was a longtime member of the NC Audubon Society.  Upon retiring from an extensive and rewarding nursing career at Grace Hospital, she was able to settle down with her loving husband and family.  She recently celebrated 65 years of marital bliss with her husband, Fred R. Moore Sr.

Left to cherish precious memories are sisters Virginia Francis, Janet Corpening, Zelma Jackson, Marion Hammett and husband Willie, and brother Winford Corpening, Jr. and wife Brenda, five children, Calvin Moore and wife Olinda of Killeen, TX, Fred R. Moore Jr. and wife Cheryl of Snellville, GA., Nathan Moore and wife Cynthia of Morganton, NC, Lisa N. Moore of Charlotte, NC, Gena N. Moore of Morganton, NC, many beautiful grand and great grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews, countless cousins and a loving church.

A homegoing celebration will be held Monday December 30, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. in the Corpening Memorial Chapel of McCain Funeral Home & Cremations; interment will follow at Burke Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.  At Mrs. Moore's personal request, t here will be no public viewing.
