Obituary

Our beloved Mrs. Nancy Brewer, 70 of Morganton, departed this earthly life for her Heavenly reward on Sunday June 25, 2023, with her loving family by her side.  Born December 10, 1951, in Morganton, she was the daughter of the late Levon Kincaid and the late Gladys Chambers Kincaid.  She was educated in the Burke County School system, graduating from Oak Hill High School.  Nancy served as an administrative specialist for the executive city manager department for the city of Morganton for a total of thirty-six years and four months.  She was a faithful member of Gaston Chapel A.M.E. Church where she served as church secretary, financial secretary, member of the Fleming-Avery-Caldwell-Wilkins Women's Missionary Society, served as the treasurer for eight years, a strong supporter of the Canned Food ministry, member of the former Floral Committee, and she served on the former Anniversary committees.  She was also a member of the Lay Organization and very active with community voter registration drives.  Nancy worked a great deal behind the scenes with her service, endeavoring to please God by using her gifts and talents.  She was wed in holy matrimony to Mr. Larry Steven Brewer Sr. and to this union three sons were born.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister Doris Conley and brothers Jonny Lee Kincaid, Floyd Douglas Kincaid, and Ernest Levon Kincaid.

Left to mourn her loss but cherish her precious memories is her loving husband Mr. Larry Steven Brewer Sr. of the home; her sons Steven Levon Brewer of Greensboro, NC, Edward Jerome Brewer of Greensboro, NC, Larry Steven Brewer II of the home; sisters Patricia Ann Smith-Johnson (Larry) of Los Angeles, CA, Bernice Rosetta Watson of Los Angeles, CA; aunt Shirley Horton (Terry); grandchildren Sabrina Marie Brewer, Selena Michelle Brewer, Aaliya Lavone Brewer, Talia Nancy Brewer, and Trevin Nehemiah Brewer, special niece Donna Kincaid-Scott (George), and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A homegoing celebration will be held Wednesday July 5, 2023 at 12:00 noon at Gaston Chapel A.M.E. Church with Rev. Allen E. Warren serving as the officiant and eulogist; interment will follow at Mt. Herman A.M.E. Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
