Obituary

Marion Edward Pearson Sr. was born on November 7, 1935, in Morganton, NC, to Lloyd and Daisy Stowers Pearson. He graduated from Olive Hill High School and subsequently enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. Following his military service, he worked for the U.S. Department of Transportation in Washington, DC.  A lifelong member of New Bethel Baptist Church, Marion served as a trustee, usher, and was actively involved in both the Finance Committee and the Search Committee.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Daisy Mae Stowers Pearson, as well as his siblings: Lloyd Pearson Jr., Grace Feaster, Benjamin Pearson, and Helen Gadson. He is survived by his devoted wife, Louise Johnson Pearson, with whom he shared 52 years of marriage; his son, Marion Pearson Jr. of Maryland; and his daughter, Debora Pearson Bitto (Wayne) of Rhode Island. Marion also leaves behind his grandchildren: Marion Pearson III, Osman Pearson, Alara Pearson, Christena Lowell (John), and Krystle Bitto (Kenny), in addition to his great-grandchildren Vivian Thompson and Autumn, along with numerous other family members.

A homegoing celebration honoring the life of Mr. Marion Edward Pearson will be held Thursday June 5, 2025 at 12:00 noon at New Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. Willard Watkins presiding and Rev. Douglas Cuthbertson serving as eulogist; interment will follow at Olive Hill Cemetery with military honors rendered by the United States Air Force; American Legion Post 322 (Berry Chambers Wright) will serve as casket bearers.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
