Mr. Kenneth Clinton Max, 65 years old, transitioned peacefully to eternal rest on August 30, 2023 in Dallas, TX. Kenneth was born on January 11, 1958 to the late Clinton A. Max and the late Sadie Ervin Max in Morganton, NC. He joined Gaston Chapel A.M.E. Church at the age of 13. He was member of the YPD. He was a lifetime member. Kenneth was a God fearing man who loved his family and his community. Also he was one who challenges the inequalities. Kenneth graduated from Freedom High School, class of 1976. He the served in the United States Army and attended Johnson C. Smith University. Kenneth received his Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science-IS. He was an Engineer for the telecommunication industry until declining health.
Kenneth loved his family and friends very much. He never met a stranger, he was the "great communicator." He was the most giving person I know, he would give you shirt off his back. He touched so many lives near and far. He enjoyed traveling. He enjoyed card games, we're going to miss playing Spades, Bid Whist and Plus went he came home for visits. He was a Tar Heel fan, a Philadelphia Eagle football fan and he loved to play golf. He will be truly missed. He will never be replaced, there is only one "Boogar".
Kenneth leaves to cherish his memories his brothers and sisters: Philip A. Ervin (Diana) of Morganton, NC, Katherine A. "Angie" Max, Charlotte M. Poindexter, and David A. Max all of Durham, NC. Nephews and nieces: Philip A. Ervin, Jr. (Denise), Danien M. Ervin of Drexel, NC, Amanda Bell of Houston, TX, Carlos M. Max (Catreina) of Creedmoor, NC, Jon Bell of Morganton, NC, Charla Poindexter of Durham, NC, Jamora Hawkins of Morganton, NC, Danielle Poindexter of Durham, NC., Malik Drury, Sarah Ervin, Dominque Max, all of Morganton, NC, great-grand nieces and nephews: Destiny A. Max of Durham, NC, Amya Ervin of Drexel, NC, Niyah Tatum of Creedmoor, NC, Charlie Ervin of Drexel, NC, A'zaylan and A'yzion Hawkins. Jamison Bowe, Kayla M. Max, Breeze, Blaze, and Ocean Ervin and Bria Bowe, and one great-great grand niece Summer Mae Sellars. Three aunts: Margaret Pearson of Morganton, NC, Jeanette Norwood of Lenoir, NC, and Connie Caldwell and one uncle Harry Ervin of Morganton, NC and a multitude of special friends, cousins, and loved ones whose lives he touched.
A home going celebration will be held on Friday, September 8, 2023, at 12:00 noon at Gaston Chapel A.M.E. Church, with Rev. Allen E. Warren presiding and Rev. Audrey Gwynn serving as the eulogist; Interment will follow at Olive Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
