Obituary

"The song is ended but the melody lingers on."

Irving Berlin

Mr. Kenneth Wayne Farmer, 71 of Glen Alpine, departed this earthly life on Tuesday August 20, 2024, at Amorem Hospice in Valdese.  Born June 24, 1953, in Knoxville, TN, he was the son of the late Grover Farmer and the late Mildred Farris Farmer.  He migrated to North Carolina in his early years and became a resident for 41 years.  Kenneth worked for many years in the construction industry as a heavy equipment operator.  He also bravely served his country in the United States Army.  In his spare time, he was an avid hunter and fisherman, enjoying the great outdoors whenever he could.  He was wed in holy matrimony to Mrs. Edena Abernathy Farmer, and to this union four children were reared.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.

Left to mourn his loss but cherish his precious memories is his loving wife Edena Farmer of the home; children Reggie Lowman (Deborah) of Valdese, Kenneth Wayne Farmer Jr. of Morganton, Deanna Lowman of Morganton, Kentina Byrd (Travis) of Morganton; siblings Brenda Piper (Danny), Frank Farmer (Tammy), and Helen Rutherford, all of Knoxville, TN; grandchildren: Chris Farmer, Daniel Farmer, Haley Lowman, Nathaniel Hamer, Baylee Byrd, and Rylee Byrd; great-grandchild Ellery Hamer, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

The Farmer and connected families will celebrate Kenneth's life privately with a family gathering.  Let us continue to remember the Farmer family in our thoughts and prayers.
