Mrs. Karen Miranda Perkins was born May 6, 1963, in Burke County to the late James Otis Perkins and Phyllis Kincaid Perkins.  She departed this earthly life for her Heavenly reward on Monday November 3, 2025, at Amorem Hospice in Valdese.  Karen was educated in the Burke County School System and graduated from Freedom High School. She worked as a supervisor at Western Carolina Center (now J. Iverson Riddle Developmental Center) for many years before her retirement.  Karen also faithfully served with the Chesterfield Fire Department as a first responder.  She was a member of Hartland Church of God where she served as an usher and Sunday School teacher.  Her kind and loving presence brought joy and light everywhere she went.   Karen adored her family and spent many precious moments with her children, grandchildren, and siblings.

Left to mourn her loss, but cherish her loving memory, is her husband Robert Dula of the home, children Elonda Perkins (Lee) of Morganton, Lakeisha Dula of Lenoir, Terrell Dula (Latasha) of Valdese; siblings Columbus Kincaid, James Eric Perkins (Delphine), Willard Perkins (Lutchia), Darrell Perkins, all of Morganton, and Andra Stephens of Illinois; grandchildren Damien Dula, Tavion Dula, Jasmine Dula, Damani Dula, and Jameer Johnson, along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

A homegoing celebration honoring the life and legacy of Mrs. Karen Perkins will take place Saturday November 8, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at Hartland Church of God with Rev. Mitchell Brittain serving as eulogist; interment will follow at Hartland Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
