Michelle Dennis was born in Philadelphia, PA on February 17, 1972 to the late Roger Lee Dennis and Christina Phyllis Moore.  Karen was one of two children.  Michelle departed this life at Frye Regional Medical Center in Hickory, NC on Sunday July 16, 2023.

Michelle, better known as "Joe Black," was beloved by everyone.  She always smiled and loved to make other smile; she was a real comedian.  She loved her family and was always the life of the party.  She loved family gatherings, cookouts, and listening to music on her headphones.  Michelle lived her best life.  She spoke to everyone, even people she didn't know.  And everybody she encountered admired her.  She was very down-to-earth and straightforward, and her favorite saying is, "that she rolled in the best of circles."  She loved watching game shows and movies.  She could recite The Temptations Movie word for word, and her favorite line was "Ain't nobody coming to see you, Otis."  Outside of her son and grandson, Michelle loved and adored her sister Sharon.  Her sister could do no wrong in her eyes.

As Michelle became more ill, she read more of the Word and always kept her Bible on her.  Although she didn't have a church home, she attended many churches and services alone and with friends.

Michelle leaves to cherish her precious memories: her son Joshua Debro; grandson Jordan Debro; step-father Jackie Moore; one sister Sharon Hill; brother-in-law Kenneth; three nieces, Tiera, Krystal, and Samantha; special friends Tracey Robinson and Curtis Moore; nine great nieces and nephews, and a host of cousins, family, and friends.

A funeral service celebrating the life of Karen Michelle Dennis will be held Monday at 4:00 p.m. in the Corpening Memorial Chapel of McCain Funeral Home & Cremations; the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
