Herbert Kent Harbison, aged 70 of Morganton, went home to be with Lord on Tuesday February 4, 2025, at his residence. Herbert was born April 28, 1954, to Shirley Harbison. He grew up in the Oakhill Community where he went to school amongst other family and friends. Herbert loved to go fishing, pitching a mean game of horseshoes, listen to music ("his jams"), looking at and riding in sports vehicles, and hanging out at family functions surrounded by friends as well. Herbert enjoyed working, as he worked in manufacturing throughout the years. He also enjoyed planting flowers and landscaping. He is preceded in death by his brother James Harbison and uncles Ervin Harbison, Isaac Harbison, and Sylvester Harbison.
Left to mourn his loss but cherish his precious memories are his loving mother Shirley Harbison of the home; three daughters: Deanna Rutherford, Lisha Harbison Corpening, and Tori Harbison all of Morganton; brother Michael Harbison of Morganton; his grandchildren: Calam Twitty, Shytiana "Shy" Twitty, Charles Chalk Jr., and Calee Chalk; eight great-grandchildren; nieces Sylvia Emmons, Barbara H. Watkins, Aneisa Harbison, and Tierra Harbison; nephew Wayne Harbison, and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
A funeral service celebrating the life of Mr. Herbert Kent Harbison will be held Saturday February 8, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. in the Corpening Memorial Chapel of McCain Funeral Home & Cremations; interment will follow at the Willow Tree A.M.E. Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
