Fred Louis Williams 80 of 4219 Chambers Ave., Morganton, NC was called from this life into eternity on Monday, January 8, 2024, at his home following a period of declining health.  He was born July 10, 1943, in Old Fort, NC and was the son of Minnie Louise Williams and Cecil Williams who preceded him in death.  Additionally, his brothers Robert Eugene Williams, Samuel Williams, Ernest Williams, and Jim Williams, and his wife Jean Elizabeth Williams with whom he was married 44 years until her passing on July 5th, 2009, leaving a very big void in his life and those of their children.  To this union of holy matrimony, three daughters and one son were born.

Fred was a member of Corpening Chapel A.M.E. Church.  He retired from Great Lakes Carbon Plant, where he was a supervisor of the Graphite Department for thirty-four years.  His favorite past times included listening to his Gospel CD's, watching old westerns, and Andy Griffith.  Fred was a die-hard Otis Redding fan, and his favorite song – which he would play on repeat – was "Send Me Some Lovin'".  He also loved eating; some of his favorite food items were pinto beans, cornbread, fig newtons, and Milky Way candy bars.  He was also a faithful lottery player!  Fred loved reminiscing about his childhood on the dairy farm and his work at Great Lakes Carbon.

Left to mourn his loss but cherish his precious memories are his daughters Wilma Williams Miller and her husband Reginald of Morganton, Annette LaShune Williams of Charlotte, Carolyn Denise Williams of Morganton; son Fred Louis Williams Jr. and his wife Retawna of Glen Alpine; siblings Hattie L. Williams, Barbara Williams, Lee Daniel Williams, and Richard Williams; grandchildren Ciera Williams, Reginald Miller, Imani Natoi Friel, Ariyana Elizabeth Williams, Kadarius Miller, Jayua Porteous, Amare Louis Williams, and Xzaviar Corpening; 2 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday January 16, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. in the Corpening Memorial Chapel of McCain Funeral Home & Cremations with Pastor Wesley Hendrix serving as the eulogist.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
