Ms. Daija Maria Rutherford entered this world on July 28, 1986 in Asheville, NC and exchanged her mortal life for eternal life the morning of Sunday, January 12, 2025. Daija was born to Roberta H. Long and Johnnie E. Rutherford Jr. In her free time, Daija found joy in art; and worked in car detailing for some time. She is preceded in death by grandmother Julia Moore Hooper; two grandfathers: Johnnie E. Rutherford Sr. and Arthur L. Hooper; as well as special friend Nicholas Wallace.

Left to cherish precious memories are her son Nicholas E. Bell  of Glen Alpine; parents Roberta H. Long (William) of Glen Alpine, and Johnnie E. Rutherford Jr.; Grandmother Rosa A. Rutherford of Glen Alpine; Brother Richlon Freeman (Maleia) of Virginia; Stepsisters Avizia Y. Long and Elizabeth Y. Long (Doug) of Indiana; Nephews Miguel and Josiah Freeman, Niece Amora Freeman; as well as a host of cousins, aunts, and uncles.

A funeral service honoring the life of Ms. Daija Rutherford will take place Saturday January 18, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. in the Corpening Memorial Chapel of McCain Funeral Home & Cremations; interment will follow at the Mt. Herman A.M.E. Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
