Ms. Cora Lee Perkins Kincaid was born on February 13, 1952, in Burke County to the late Frank Perkins and Hattie Johnson. On February 23, 2026, she passed peacefully into the arms of the Lord at her residence. Cora was a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and aunt who brought joy and laughter to everyone around her. In addition to her parents, Cora is preceded in death by brothers: Gene Perkins, James Perkins, Willie Perkins, and Frank Perkins; nephew: Vada Perkins; Niece: Christina Perkins; and mother-in-law: Essie Raye Kincaid.
Having lived a life rooted in love and faith, Cora was a lifelong member of Gaston Chapel A.M.E Church, where she served as an usher for many years. She was born and raised in Burke County, N.C., and moved to Winston-Salem in the late 90's. She was a talented and passionate cook who brought her family together through delicious meals. In her free time, you may have found her reading or watching wrestling, westerns, or talent TV shows such as America's Got Talent.
Cora was especially known for her impeccable style and passion for makeup. She was a soft-spoken and kind-hearted woman who cherished her family. She loved her grandchildren deeply; you could often hear her bragging about how proud she was of them.
Left to cherish her memories are her daughters: Danielle Chapman (Chris) of Morganton; and Donya Kincaid of Winston-Salem; stepdaughter: Monica Corpening of Lenoir; grandchildren: Devyn Chapman; Bryson Chapman, Kerez Kincaid-Gripper, and Xyree Kincaid-Gripper; beloved pet/grand-dog-ter: Lucy Chapman; siblings: Addie P. Horton of Morganton, Jeanell P. Hubbs (Matthew) of Morganton, Jerlene P. Adams of Winston-Salem; special cousin: Rebecca Jennings; sister-in-law: Reba Perkins; Nieces: Pandoria Perkins and Kenya Adams; Nephews: Gene Perkins Jr., Tim Banner, Willie Hubbs, James Perkins, Roland Horton, Anthony Hubbs, Broderick Horton, Roderick Horton, Adrian Horton, Releist Adams, and Eric Hubbs; as well as extended family and friends.
A Receiving of Friends will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2026, from 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM in the Corpening Memorial Chapel of McCain Funeral Home, followed by a Memorial Service at 1:00 PM.
