Mr. Charles Harvey Davis Sr. 94, of Morganton passed away Tuesday July 18, 2023 following a period of declining health at Grace Heights.  God our Father came back to take the father of our church home.  He was born June 16, 1929 in Morganton to the late William Davis Sr. and Harriett Connelly Davis.  He retired from Drexel Heritage Plants 3&5 and was a devoted member of Shiloh A.M.E. Church where he sang in the Men's Choir and was a member of the Men's club.  He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and faithful friend.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Davis was preceded in death by his wife Mrs. Lucille Martin Davis; son Charles H. Davis Jr.;  brothers Robert, Thomas, William, Jack, and James; sisters Mary Louise Surratt, Agnes Lattimore, Catherine Battle, Susi Avery, and Sadie Waters; grandsons Tevin Davis and Tyrone Davis, and great-granddaughter Briana Bennette.

Remaining to cherish his memories are sons Jerry Davis (Rita), Terry Davis, Ronald Davis, Donald Davis (Stephanie), and James Rutherford (Elizabeth); daughters C. Agnes Howell, Bonnie Smith, Charlie Mae Davis, and Katherine Davis; daughter in law Vanessa Davis; three special sisters in law: Armelia Fleming, Jessie Martin, and Vivian Martin, along with numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.

A homegoing celebration honoring the life of Mr. Charles H. Davis Sr. will be held Tuesday July 25, 2023 at 12:00 noon in the Corpening Memorial Chapel of McCain Funeral Home & Cremations; interment will follow at the Shiloh A.M.E. Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
