Obituary

Our Heavenly Father in His infinite wisdom has received into His presence our beloved Cedrick Lavet Hester, 54 of Laurinburg, who began his Heaven bound journey on Saturday July 8, 2023 at his residence.  Born March 14, 1969 in Rockingham, NC, he was the son of the late Radford McClamb and the late Sandra Bruce.  Cedrick was educated in the Richmond County School system and upon graduation attended Fayetteville State University for two years, majoring in business administration.  He worked with Harris Teeter for a total of eighteen years, working in the Laurinburg, Aberdeen, and Fayetteville locations. He also worked as an assistant stock manager for IGA for a number of years.  Cedrick was a dedicated and hard worker who always kept a positive attitude, followed by an encouraging word.  He loved his family and would never hesitate to remind you that he loved you as well!  Cedrick dedicated his life to the Lord Jesus Christ in 2022 and began attending Christian Plain Church under the leadership of Pastor Pearl Gills.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife Hattie McLean Hester, aunts Lavern Nicholson and Stephanie Dianne Allen, uncle Tommy Lee Hester, maternal grandmother Mother Ida Mae Hester and maternal grandfather James Thomas Albert Hester.

Left to mourn his loss but treasure his precious memories is his son Cedric Darien of Cincinnati, OH; sister Lattisha Knox (Donald) of Newton, NC; grandchildren Honesty Darien, Desire Jones, Autumn Jones, and Jay'shia Jones; aunts Virginia Hester, Della Marie Hester, Mother Anna Margaret Gross, Vonzella Hester, and Cynthia Dockery; uncles Elder Larry Hester (Deidre) and Kenneth Hester; and a host of other relatives and friends.



A homegoing celebration will be held Saturday July 15, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Pemberton Temple Church of God in Christ in Hamlet with Elder Charles Quick serving as the eulogist; interment will follow at Hillside Memorial Park in Laurinburg, NC.   Bro. Hester will lie in repose for the public from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. in the chapel of Nelson Funeral Service in Rockingham on Friday July 14.
